The Castell de Santa María, better known as the castle d’en Plaja, is one of the youngest in Spain. With less than 80 years old, this castle is an icon in the beautiful town of the Costa Brava. And it is that despite having less historical value than others, it compensates its youth with the medieval charm that it brings to the area.

Rising majestically on a promontory like sentinel of a beautiful cove, it is bordered by a walk that is worth traveling. The castle d'En Plaja is a little less than 80 years old

Despite its imposing medieval appearance, it is a private property, and was the work of Girona architect Isidor Bosc i Bataller. Its construction began in 1933 and ended in the mid-fifties, after the civil war. Its style is neo-Gothic, which highlights its battlement towers and ogive shaped windows.

In Lloret de Mar, the castle was built with stones from the land itself, and also has a private road protected by a stone wall. This road leads to a small but privileged viewpoint over the sea, which only its owners can enjoy. Castle d’En Plaja: one of the pearls of the Camino de Ronda

One way to appreciate your castle in Lloret de Mar is from the Camino de Ronda. From Sa Caleta, north of the Platja Gran de Lloret, this path starts along the entire Costa Brava.

The round roads run along the coast from Blanes to Portbou on itineraries that communicate different coastal towns. During the nineteenth and twentieth centuries these trails became popular when used by the authorities to control contraband.

As it passes through Lloret, the Camino de Ronda runs under the castle walls and borders charming coves. Some of them are Cala dels Frares and Cala d’en Trons, which stand out for their beauty and mystery.
